The Beauty Detox Solution

I had been doing everything wrong! I would indulge in sugar free sweeteners, and gorge myself with combinations of what I thought were ‘healthy foods’. My breakfast was always a huge mug of coffee and fat free creamer, followed by another shortly after. On my journey to figure out why I struggled with food, I came across several amazing sources. Dr. Kathleen DesMaison explained that some people are sugar sensitive and documented real lab studies in her book The Sugar addict’s weight-loss plan, YOUR LAST DIET! This sparked my interest to discover more about being sugar sensitive. I dove into The Blood Sugar Solution by Dr. Mark Hyman. The information he presented was incredible! I wanted to learn more. I pulled out a book that had been sitting on my shelf for the past year; The Beauty Detox Solution by Kimberly Snyder, C.N. This was the most eye opening book I have ever read, so I wanted to share some excerpts with you.
The Beauty Detox Solution by Kimberly Snyder, C.N.
“We will slow down aging and look younger if we limit our intake of animal protein and increase our intake of plant foods.”
“I estimate that more than half of adults in the United States are digesting and absorbing less than half of what they eat.”
“The real cause of aging is acidic sludge in the body, which constantly impedes energy. Ongoing cleansing, which includes consuming cleansing foods, is the way to clean out the sludge. Certain foods and combinations of foods digest more easily than others, taking up less Beauty Energy. Freeing up energy from digestion is the single most important way to redirect large amounts of energy to make weight loss efficient and fight aging.”
“Protein: In the stomach a concentrated protein requires an acidic environment to be broken down, and environment that includes hydrochloric acid and an enzyme called pepsin. Starch: The breakdown of starch starts with an enzyme called ptyalin, which can efficiently act only with an alkaline medium.”
“Eating carbohydrates with protein at the same time results in a serious chemical situation to contend with.”
“Since the body has to concentrate so much energy on breaking down each protein, only one protein at a time should be consumed.”
“You can mix plant proteins without a problem, so, for example, having seeds and nuts together is fine. But surf and turf, eggs with ham, or an appetizer containing fish followed by a chicken main dish are all bad combinations.”
“Even if you are eating an all-raw meal, it is best not to mix a lot of nuts together with a lot of fat.”
“Eat fruit on an empty stomach.”
[Vegetables mix with either starches or proteins. Proteins and starches do not mix. Different starches mix. Different proteins do not mix. Fats do not mix well with protein. Fats do mix with starches. Fruits should be eaten on an empty stomach. Fruit does mix with raw greens except melons.]
“Too much liquid with meals dilutes our digestive juices and delays digestion considerably.”
“Get in the habit of squeezing some liver-supporting, vitamin C-filled lemon in your water for added benefit.”
“Light to Heavy. It is not just what we eat that matters, or even just the combination, but also the order in which we eat our food.”
“Fruit passes through the stomach in about twenty to thirty minutes, with the exception of the banana, which takes about 45 minutes. Starches remain in the stomach a few hours, and proteins even longer, as they are the slowest moving and take the most work to break down.”
Slow to fast- protein, starches, non-starch vegetables, greens & fruit
“Having fruit for dessert has created a bloating internal mess.”
“For your Beauty Detox, breakfast starts with fruit, veggie sticks or a green drink, even if heavier foods follow while we are transitioning. Juice is the purest food of all, since it is not a solid food but a liquid, and should always be consumed on an empty stomach so that it can be absorbed into the body first.”
“Eat raw food at a meal before any cooked food. Otherwise the cooked food eaten holds up the digestion of the raw and the latter can ferment, causing uncomfortable gas.”
“We will never eat when we are not hungry.”
“We cannot get energy from food until nutrients from that food have been absorbed in the small intestine.”
“We avoid eating concentrated protein at lunchtime, whether it’s an animal source or a vegetarian one.”
“Proteins are the most difficult of all foods to digest.”
“Excessive snacking between lunch and dinner can throw our digestive system into more turmoil and cause a traffic jam.”
“Dinner should always start with a green salad.”
“The fat in the olive oil gets heated to high temperatures, killing off its lipase enzymes.”
“This is why raw nuts are much less fattening than roasted nuts.”
“It is important to always consume raw plant food at the beginning of every meal.”
“Over time, as your body’s makeup shifts, you will start rooting out the blockages and poisons that are causing cravings for the heavier foods or caffeinated beverages that you consumed in the past.”
“Blending foods before eating them, you ‘predigest’ them, so the body does not have to work to break down the foods and waste unnecessary energy in digestion.”
“The nature of the bottling process means the juices have been pasteurized, and that means the vegetables and fruits have been heated to such high temperatures that the enzymes and much of the nutrition have been killed and denatured.”
“Animal protein is the most complex of all foods: it takes about twice as long as other foods to pass through our digestive system.”
“Always soak nuts and seeds in water before eating them.”
“If you are an athlete or are on the go, I recommend taking chlorella tablets after a workout or keeping them in your purse or carry-on bag. Chewing these tablets will temporarily satisfy your hunger and provide you with protein and necessary minerals.”
“Soy also contains isoflavones, which are substances that have been show to depress thyroid function.” The thyroid controls the metabolism, among other essential process in the body, and slowing it down contributes to weight gain.”
“No adult cows ever drink milk, and adult humans are certainly not meant to be drinking it either.”
“Refined sugar is one of the most toxic foods you can eat: it causes extreme energy fluctuations, intense cravings and feelings of depression, anger, anxiety and negativity.”
“The four best Beauty Detox grains are millet, quinoa, amaranth and buckwheat.”
“You should always eat veggies first and along with grains to control portion size.”
“It is important to soak grains at least eight hours, and preferably overnight. This will help deactivate enzyme inhibitors that coat all grains and will make them even easier to digest.”
“A large amount of fat should never be eaten with protein- that is an improper Beauty Food Paring. Significant amounts of fat, and especially refined and heated fat, delay the secretion of hydrochloric acid, which is needed for efficient protein digestion in our stomach.”
“When we are trying to lose weight, we must limit all fat, so half of a large avocado or one small avocado a day is the maximum amount we should consume.”
“If you are eating a salad for lunch with avocado, avoid eating nuts with it.”
“Cooked oils and fried foods are among the most aging, fattening and acid-forming types of food we can consume. Eating excessive cooked fat can cause acne, premature aging, weight gain, unfavorable body odor, liver stagnation and cardiovascular problems.”
“Margarine, hydrogenated oils and trans-fatty acids of all kinds, as well as refined oil, are some of the worst kinds of fat to eat.”
“When a fruit is sold in “seedless” varieties, it means that the particular fruit’s genetic makeup has been tampered with by scientists in a lab to produce strains that sell well commercial.”
“Cooked fruit and cooked fruit products to avoid include pasteurized juices, jams, jellies, cooked fruit pies and other such desserts, commercial applesauce and other fruit sauces.”
“Starchy veggies should be cooked well.”
“Organic farmers allow fruits and vegetables to fully ripen on the vine, instead of relying on combustive chemicals to force them to ripen prematurely and artificially.”
“Since the 1950s, as commercial farming has adopted practices like chemical fertilizing and plant breeding, and soil conditions have declined, there has been a marked decrease in the average nutritional content of grains as well as fresh fruits and vegetables.”
“All these commercial farming practices are directly in opposition to the natural laws of growing food and are motivated by the desire to grow more produce faster and sell more at a cheaper cost, yet we’re the ones paying for it.”
“Exposure to these pesticides may contribute to a whole host of health problems, such as cancer, birth defects, damage to the central nervous system and developmental problems.”
“You can soak your produce for thirty minutes to an hour in a mixture of filtered water and ¾ cup of apple cider vinegar.”
“Sprouts are one of the most magical and beneficial foods that we can consume.”
“When you purchase some sea vegetables, they might come in a hard, dry form. Be sure to rinse them first to wash off any sea salt; then soak them for about ten to fifteen minutes to soften them up.”
“When you choose a digestive enzyme supplement, be sure to look for one that is began and plant-based.”
“Choose a supplement that contains a blend of lipase, amylase and protease, to help efficiently digest fats, starches and proteins. Cellulase is another category of digestive enzymes and can also be useful in a supplement, as it breaks down cellulose and chitin, a fiber similar to cellulose that is found in the cell wall of candida.”
“I do not recommend consuming yogurt, which is made of pasteurized dairy milk. Pasteurized dairy products are clogging foods and contain high levels of the protein casein.”
“I am now convinced that raw, cultured vegetables are among the most important foods of our modern day.”
“Our produce is sprayed with chemicals and contaminants and grown in soil stripped of beneficial microorganisms, and livestock and other animals are often fed with grains that have been chemically altered and laced with antibiotics and steroids.”
“There is absolutely no moderation involved when it comes to table salt, which is really denatured sodium chloride. It is poison in our bodies and we must expel it completely from our diet starting today.”
